The Skwirrel is an electric children’s wheelchair and was one of the first products developed by Indes. The idea behind the Skwirrel was to enable wheelchair-bound children to play as freely as possible with other children, without restrictions. Indes developed a hi/lo seat height adjustment system, allowing children to converse with other children at eye level. Another unique feature is the centrally located joystick, which, from an ergonomic point of view, is a vast improvement on existing models. The steering wheel can be folded away, leaving a flat work table when the wheelchair is stationery.
Indes developed the Skwirrel in partnership with Huka and Matrix, and managed the project from start to finish. The Skwirrel has been a market leader in children’s wheelchairs for over a decade.
