Indes wins Red Dot Design Award 2013 with WheelDrive

Indes was awarded the Red Dot Award 2013 for the development of WheelDrive; the new generation of auxiliary drive for users of a manual wheelchair. The Red Dot Award is a prestigious prize regarding product design which is awarded to the best international innovations.

WheelDrive consists of two electrically powered wheels which can be attached to almost any common wheelchair on the market. This applies to both new wheelchairs and models currently in use, which makes buying a new wheelchair unnecessary. The idea behind WheelDrive is increasing the mobility of people and postponing or even precluding the transition to an electric wheelchair. Through the Power Assist Technology propelling becomes less heavy which relieves the user, similar to the principle of the electric bicycle. The strength of Indes is applying this technology as a flexible platform, focused on the needs of a specific group of users. During the development of WheelDrive, end-users have been involved throughout the process to make sure the product operates as well as possible in different environments. Winning the Red Dot Award confirms the added value of WheelDrive, the high quality appearance and the user focused design.
